Holiday Home Tour

It's our first year in our new home and I have been looking forward to decorating. It has seemed to take me quite a long time to actually figure out where I wanted to put everything and actually put the containers away. I still don't feel fully decorated with so many Pinterest ideas floating around in my head but with Christmas 2 days away I decided to forget it and make cookies with the kids. We're starting some new traditions in regards to my procrastination and that is hanging the stockings on Christmas Eve since I still haven't figured out a way to attach them without putting something into the mantle. So enjoy our New England abode! Wish the unseasonably warm weather wouldn't have melted the beautiful snow. Our street is absolutely gorgeous. Like out of a movie gorgeous!

Picking out the tree is always the fun part until it starts raining.

Our living room is one of the only rooms that is almost completely decorated minus window treatments so of course it's my fav.

Loving our double sided fireplace!

Our dining room is the second favorite room of our house.

Kitty looking guilty because he knows he's not supposed to eat these.
The bar set up for a holiday party

The foyer is where I've decided to showcase all our beautiful Christmas cards. They make me smile everyday knowing how blessed we are to have such great friends and family.
And lastly our kitchen wall which I enjoy decorating each holiday.
Hope you have a relaxing holiday like this guy and his matching (creepy) ornament my 4 year old picked out because he thought it was his cat.

My favorite print has finally joined our home

Ever since I laid my eyes on this octopus tryptych print I've wanted to create a space for it. When we bought our new home I found the perfect wall in our dining room. Our dining room is right to the left of our front door when you walk in the house so it's somewhat of a focal point. When I laid eyes on the grass cloth wallpaper that was already existing in the home I knew it would be the perfect spot and a great compliment to the grays in the room. It also ties in with the West Elm end chairs and zinc top table from Wayfair. The pendant light was a great find from Overstock. I love orchids grouped together and couldn't find one similar to my inspiration photo so I bought a couple from Home Depot along with a blue planter, some green moss and created my own. Now let's hope my green thumb comes in handy and can keep them alive. I knew the dining room was going to be one of my favorite rooms in the new home and it's starting to come together and I can't wait till it's complete.

It's starting to feel like Fall!

Fall is my favorite time of year. Between the PSL's and beautiful weather I'm in heaven. It's also my favorite time to decorate my porch. Taking advantage of the seasonably warm day and finishing up my planters in my porch.

Ghost and pumpkin from Homegoods
Copper planters from Target
Planters:
Mums, tall grasses, white sugar pumpkins, red and white cabbage and tiny pepper plants. All of these are perennials so they can be planted after the Halloween season! My fav kind of flowers.

I love nurseries!

If kids weren't so much work I'd have many just so I could decorate their rooms. Because once they turn 4 and 6 they just want to hang their artwork all over with lots and lots of scotch tape and then color on the nicely painted walls so it doesn't stay as cute as the little baby room they once had.  This room is just beautiful. My first son had the very serene baby blue room with all white furniture and by the time he was almost 2 I felt it was too babyish and we switched it up a little. That's why I now love rooms that can grow with kids and this is one of them. I love the striped walls! .

Entry organization

I've battled with entry organization in my house since we moved in. We enter through our basement so everything is stored downstairs next to central vac and electric box. Not a pretty site but no way to hide it. Then I have one child who comes home on the bus and enters through the front door and the little one comes home with me and enters through basement door. So I've learned to accept the fact that I will always have a coat and school bag hanging upstairs. But I wanted a place to be organized when we walked in. So I was a little bored. Searched my attic and found shelves, hooks and finally put up my calendar I made last summer!!!

Sometimes I come upon things that make me just fall in love, like this house in Charleston! I actually once told my husband I want to live in Charleston so I could have a cool house. Too bad I like the seasons too much and love my New England but I can still dream about what my brownstone will look like one day.

Family Calendar

I was just talking to my girlfriend the other day about how I have about 5 calendars everywhere and when I got a call that I missed my son's dentist appointment I decided I needed to get better organized. I turned to my favorite site for ideas Houzz and came upon the dry erase calendar. She found it on etsy. You buy a picture frame the size of the decal and attach it to the glass on the picture frame for a dry erase family calendar. I love this idea and I love that you can personalize it to match your home. Also a great house warming gift too!

New Year, New Resolution....

I think about this blog often and how I want to make it look like all the other blogs I read everyday so I made it my resolution this year to make it better or maybe I should say actually start it. Let's hope I stick to it!
